Trip Description top of page An incredible all inclusive hut to hut traverse on the Wapta Icefields. 4 huts, 150 sq. kilometers of glaciation, up to 50km of traversing, amazing scenery, ski touring & ski mountaineering opporunities on 3000 meter + peaks. Professionally guided by IFMGA certified Mountain Guides, package includes: Transport, food, accommodation. glacier travel kit and guiding. Four to five and seven day packages. We will stay at three or all four Alpine Club of Canada huts: Pyeto hut, Bow hut, Balfour hut and Scott Duncan hut. Every trip is a bit different. As you will be dealing directly with your guide for the trip organization, we take great pride in being able to offer our guests a completely custom tailored adventure. Tell us what you want and we will organize it to the finest detail in order to create a perfect trip for you. Another advantage of dealing directly with your guide is that there is no middle man, so you save money too. If you prefer easy days and moderate terrain with scenic viewpoints, we can accommodate you. If your goal is to ski mountaineer and summit as many peaks as possible, we can do it. Perhaps you are a powder hound, and your goal is to ski the best lines on the Wapta, follow your guide to the goods! Most of our guests want a mix of the above and generally this is what we organize by default. On the four day trip we stay at 3 huts and comfortably finish the traverse beginning from Peyto and skiing out of either Sherbrooke Lake or the Bath Glacier. On the five and seven day trips we go to all 4 huts and either take our time or use up the extra days going further afield exploring, skiing and summiting. Your guides are certified to the highest level of professional mountain certification in the world; IFMGA Mountain Guide or ACMG Ski Guide certification. On top of that, we are locals and know the Wapta intimately. We are also all professional members of the Canadian Avalanche Association. This combination of expertise allows us to pick the best routes, find the best skiing, navigate our way in whiteout conditions as well as keep you safe if the avalanche hazard is high. All in all the Wapta Traverse is a world classic and can be considered Canada's haute route. We can also turn this trip into a Ski touring/glacier travel and crevasse rescue course. If this interests you, please inquire.

Day 1: Meet at Summit Café Canmore 7:00- do an equipment check Day 3: 07:30 We can do St. Nicholas peak or Mt. Gordon, then ski up and down through the exciting Vulture col to Balfour Pass Hut. If we want we can climb the more technical Mt. Olive ridge to summit. We can also just ski the big easy ramp down the Vulture Glacier from Bow hut. We ski down to Scott Ducan hut. On the way we can explore the Waputik glacier and divide - good N facing skiing to be found here!. We can also ski mountaineer fine summits such as Mt. Balfour, Liliput, Daly and others.
