Eric Says:
It all started with my little brother and I, strolling along the railroad tracks so that we could find some machine nuts to make homemade stoppers and railroad spikes that we fashioned into pitons to be slung. Armed with these, a yellow plastic rope, tying in with bowline around the waist and using a waist belay we had some precarious adventures on the large granite batholith of Mt. St. Hilaire, a 20 minute walk from home. Things evolved from there, climbing became an all consuming passion and since then has been an important part of my life. I have traveled the world, done every type of climbing and hope to never stop, I aspire to be a centenary rock climber.
From years of climbing and guiding rock I have developed quite an affinity for developing movement skills, teaching all aspects of rock climbing, guiding big routes with ease and efficiency and of course choosing the perfect objective for my guests. It is fair to say that I take great pride in my rock guiding. Being able to climb at a consistently high standard also allows me to guide routes of greater length and difficulty with ease. I strive to inspire and share my passion with my guests. My guiding style is very interactive and hands on. I look forward to a great adventure of rock climbing with you,
Happy trails, Eric.

Customized Rock Trips: I can customize an amazing rock climbing experience for you. This can be a combination of classic mutli-pitch routes along with more relaxed days at sunny local crags. There are many fine rock climbing areas that deserve several days such as the Canadian Rockies, Bugaboos, Squamish, Verdon gorge, climbs around Chamonix or Briancon in France, Yosemite Valley in California, the Aosta valley in Itally or the Swiss Valais. I also organize exotic rock trips to Thailand, Greece, Morocco, Patagonia and more.
Private Guiding Days: Rock Classics: EASY to MOST DIFFICULT
There is no doubt of course that I love pure private guiding, whether we are out for an easy relaxed day at one of the local crags, or for a challenging day on a superb classic. My rock climbing ability allows me to guide at all levels including the more difficult routes. As such I am well able to accommodate those clients who seek to accomplish harder technical multi-pitch routes graded in the 5.11’s and .12’s. Courses:
I enjoy working at all skill levels, from beginners to experts in developing their skills and technique. I feel it is very important to build a strong foundation of proper technique early on. My approach is a fun, interactive, fast paced and very thorough one- it has always achieved very good results.
Courses: I have organized a series of fully comprehensive courses with my mountain school, the Mountain Skills Academy. Simpy click on the course tab to be re-directed to that website. I have spared nothing to make sure these courses will establish only the strongest foundation and skill set amongst participants. My courses can be characterized as fast paced, throurough, interactive and fun.
Rock Clinics: As a technician, it’s very rewarding to fine tune someone’s skill in many aspect the rock climbing. It is very rewarding to see a guest learn, progress and achieve breakthroughs. My goal is to instill an effective and efficient technique that at the same time is eloquent and powerful.
First Ascents: One of the highlights of my career is establishing new routes. Ever since the first Swiss Guides came to Canada, this has been one of the rare and highly sought after activities for a guest and their guide to undertake. There is nothing more rewarding in climbing than pioneering a new route. Having been very active in this domain and with a keen eye for unclimbed routes, I possess excellent knowledge of the range and know of many easily accessible as well as more remote areas where First Ascents can be made.
Testimonials: Eric, Dear Eric, Hey Eric,
I wanted to thank you for an amazing day. I admit that at first I was very apprehensive and the wall looked quite intimidating. It was an amazing experience for me and I hope for many more.

Once again, thank you ever so much for the splendid time spent climbing that golden Italian granite… it was a brilliant trip and next year I would like to…
Rose St.Clair, Great Britain
I'm remembering your last movement class at Sally Borden Gym, that twist and pivot move you showed me for getting past overhangs. That’s exactly the kind of thing Yolanda wants to get some instruction on. And any other tricks we can practice to take our climbing up a notch…
