Paddy's love of rock climbing and his move to the Canadian Rockies in 1995 was a natural segue for the cold challenge of the steep, frozen Waterfall Ice routes of the Canadian Rockies. Some of his more memorable ascents include The Replicant (WI 5), Sea of Vapours ( WI5+) and Ten Years After (WI 5+). He enjoys the moderate Waterfall Routes and Mixed Routes that the Rockies have to offer and is always psyched to share those experiences with guests who have the desire and determination to take on such a wonderful and unique climbing experiences. Guiding and teaching Ice & Mixed Climbing is a dream job! Period.
Paddy Says:
"Ice & Mixed Climbing are demanding sub-sports of Alpinism which require deliberate & precise movement skills along with an open mind to what is possible. I have climbed with many people in the winter months and the common thread with most of my guests is how surprised they are with what they were able to accomplish in a single day."
"Ice and Mixed Climbing is like that. You love and hate it at the same time. You feel the pain and revel in the ecstasy - often simultaneously. Ice is a beast that will tear the truth right out of you - you will learn more about yourself in a daunting 10 meters of ice than in 25 years of tapping computer keys, negotiating deals or whatever else you do for a living!"
