Slipstream Guided
Slipstream (VI WI 4+) is a world famous ice route considered by many ice climbers the pinnacle of their ice climbing careers. Flowing down 1000 meters from the forbidding North Face of Snow Dome mountain (hydrological epicenter of Canada) in the Canadian Rockies. In this exposé, the route is guided for the first time by IGB Canadian Mountain Guide, Eric Dumerac. Any ascent of Slipstream is a significant achievement by its own right, but even more impressive as a guiding endeavor. Eric chronicles this sustained kilometer long route and guiding strategy. With engaging dialog, exciting footage and breathtaking pictures it’s a great video. At the final ice tier, the pair are faced with the prospect of a large avalanche slope, vertical serac and complex cornices. With daylight diminishing quickly, Eric takes the decision to rappel the route as being the safest option and a long descent ensues. Eric had previously soloed the route in 3 hours several years before.
